When I look back at my 50th birthday, I don’t just remember the Blue Ridge Mountains… or the perfect surprise my husband planned.
I remember the house.
It reminded me of something I see every day in my work as a realtor:
A home is so much more than bricks, walls, and square footage.
Not because it was big, or because the view could have been on a postcard — but because it became a memory capsule.
This trip was also the first time I rented a place for so long.
When you stay a week or 10 days somewhere, it’s very different from staying three weeks.
With three weeks, the place becomes yours.
You develop your habits.
You know where everything is in the kitchen.
You have “your” chair on the porch.
You no longer have to discover something new each day — you’ve claimed it.
And when you truly “own” a place in that way, it allows you to deeply and genuinely build memories.
Every gathering.
Every laugh over a meal.
Every smell from the kitchen.
The worn spot on the floor where your dog likes to nap.
The window where the morning light hits your coffee just right.
The sound of a friend’s laughter in the dining room, long after the plates are cleared.
A house can do that.
It’s not just four walls and a roof — it’s a container for your life’s moments, big and small.
And the right home?
It’s where those moments happen effortlessly, without you even realizing they’re becoming the memories you’ll keep forever.
One day, you’ll move on. And years later, you’ll see a photo and say, “Remember when…” — and it will take you right back.
That’s why my role isn’t only to help you buy or sell.
It’s not about just finding a property.
It’s about helping my clients find their own memory capsule — the place where laughter will echo, where traditions will start, and where they’ll look back years later and say:
"This is where it happened."
Because a house is just a property.
But a home?
That’s where life happens.
Whether it’s for a weekend or a lifetime, the right home has the power to hold your most cherished moments… the ones that stay forever.
