An agent from up north was interviewing several realtors to refer her clients relocating to South Florida.
We had a good conversation. She wrapped up politely, telling me she was speaking with three other agents and would decide afterward.
I couldn’t help but wonder—on what basis would she choose? And why wasn’t our conversation enough to show I was the right fit?
So I followed up—not to push, but to ask:
“What can I do to earn your trust?
I’m reliable, proactive, and I genuinely care about your clients. I’ll make sure you look good for referring them to the right agent here in South Florida. On what basis will you decide who’s the right one?”
She called me back almost immediately.
“You’re the right agent,” she said.
“You’re the kind of agent I want to work with.”
When I asked what made me different from the others, her answer was simple:
“You were the only one who followed up. Not to sell me, but to connect. You weren’t pushy—you were thoughtful. That matters.”
This is what luxury means to me:
